Righteous Risk Cohorts
The Righteous Risk project is a curated set of articles, stepping stones, and experiments designed to help church leaders discern what faithfulness looks like now—and then act with courage.
This isn’t a plug-and-play program. It’s a practical toolkit for leaders who love the church, recognize the strain in our inherited systems, and refuse both nostalgia and panic. Individual congregations can work through the materials on their own, but the deepest blessing comes when churches share the journey—trading stories of faith and struggle, learning from one another’s experiments, and supporting one another as we take righteous risks together.
A righteous risk is a concrete next step that stretches us beyond comfort without drifting into recklessness. It is grounded in prayer, shaped by Scripture, and aimed at love of neighbor. Righteous risks are specific and doable—big enough to require courage, small enough to complete. Taken together, they build trust, grow leadership capacity, and retrain a congregation’s imagination for this season.
You’ll find tiered experiments and simple guides you can use as a pastor, session, ministry team, or presbytery. Start where you have capacity—then take one step more than is comfortable. The gospel has not changed. Christ is faithful. The Spirit is at work. The question is whether we will take the next faithful step.
